Car originates from Sunderland Chevrolet in Pa. It was sold on Ebay in 2003 with 1,500 miles by its CVOA owner in Texas. When it surfaced seven years later on Ebay with 1,592 miles I contacted its owner in Michigan. I had another chance to finally replace my missed Cosworth with this time capsule. I couldn't pass it up a second time.

Cosworth Vega invited to 2012 New England Concours D' Elegance presented by Hemmings Motor News
Tue Oct 02, 2012 4:46 pm
My 1976 Chevy Cosworth Vega was a Preservation class entry at the 2012 New England Concours D' Elegance presented by "Hemmings Motor News" October 30th at the Saratoga Auto Museum, Saratoga Springs N.Y. After being only trailered to club events by its previous owners this was probably the car's first long-distance trip driven in its lifetime - 470 miles round-trip. The Cosworth, all-original with 2k miles, was positioned in the 8-vehicle class as listed in program.
Preservation (PRE)
1962 Chrysler 300 convertible
1965 Rambler Classic 770
1965 Pontiac Star Chief sedan
1966 Chevrolet Chevy II L79
1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396
1971 Chevrolet Corvette 350/270hp
1973 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega
Notice the car is listed as a '73 (the cutoff year for the show) - illegal? so my car had the dubious distinction of being the "newest" car in the entire field. That might have something to do with the outcome - the '68 Chevelle SS took the Preservation class win despite driver's seat rips and nasty paint touch-ups. A pristine '65 Pontiac sedan took runner-up. It was announced both were original owner-cars however. Since it wasn't a judged event this year, obviously there were different priorities for the Hemmings staff in choosing the winners - and fewer classes (only 5 as opposed to 20 in 2010) - Chrysler Imperial, New York State-Made, Preservation, Porsche 356 and Shelby grouped the 31 "class entries."
93 "additional entries" vowed only for the 19 (subjective) awards added including "Biggest Wow Factor", "Most Striking Color Combination" and "The Car You Wished You Had in High School," still there were stunning cars that failed to win an award. Too bad there weren't "Lowest Production" or "Lowest Mileage" awards. Not subjective categories, the '75/'76 Cosworth with 3,508 built, and my car, #3466 with only 2k miles could have won either.
After several hours of final detailing upon my arrival, there wasn't much time to actually enjoy the show as it ended hours early at 2PM due to inclement weather, although it was fun hanging out a while with two previous Cosworth Vega owners. Spectators and invitees alike really liked the car and I received many compliments.
On the way home several drivers all asked the same question - "What year is that?" and two young ladies working at the McDonalds drive-up window took an interest. One said "I love your car." I asked what she liked about it - she said, "Everything, it's awesome."
This time around I settled on the privilege of just being in the prestigious Concours field, but it was a far cry from my victorious weekend at the judged 2010 New England Concours with my '73 Vega GT. The 15-car Preservation class had the largest field and the most diverse assembly of vehicles, ranging from a 1935 Packard to a 1975 Porsche. My 6k miles Vega GT was judged "Best Preservation."
The editor in chief of Hemmings Motor News has chosen my Cosworth Vega and Vega GT to be featured in an article in an upcoming issue of Hemmings Classic Car before the winter.
