Torque arm bushing options in 2017

Postby kenimpzoom » Sat Apr 22, 2017 6:56 pm

I looked at a lot of old threads and came up with the past options:

Moog K6166
Rare Parts 15277
And Polyurathane

The Moog cant be found anywhere, other than one on ebay for around 50 bucks.
The Rare Parts 15277 is on carpartsdicount.com for about 25 bucks, otherwise it cant be found either.

What I really want is the polyurathane, but I cant find anyone that makes it.

Does anyone else know where a poly version can be sourced?

Thanks, Ken

I am pretty sure I have an extra Moog torque arm bushing. Let me know if you are interested and I will dig it out. Definitely won't charge $50 for it.

No only $49.95! Just fooling around Ken. There has been some discussion on [here] weather the bushing does all of the "give" for the geometry changes in the suspension or if the mount slides. if it doesn't slide then "poly" is a real bad plan [and I was unable to find one either]. I would also note that when the factory made some "Hi-Po" versions [1984 version of said, anyway  ] of the "F-Body" with a torque arm they switched to a softer/high compliance bushing. Reason being that lower profile tires don't cushion shock loads from the contact patch as well as higher profile tires and that means they will "Break Loose" easier with the low/hard combo than the hi-profile and the softer bushing. I too, have thought of a more durable torque arm bushing.
as I go thru them frequently,
my set up is a turbo V6 (GN engine/trans) with ALOT of boost,
I am using poly motor mounts, trans mounts,
but stock rubber torque arm bushing,

so I'm listening!

I bought a kit from pst about 20 years ago that consisted of poly control arm bushings and a torque arm bushing ( I sold the torque arm bushing to Clyde). On their site they have kit POLY33141 which may be the same thing. Their description makes no sense so I emailed them for more info. If it is the same kit I bought I will post here.

They updated the picture. It is the same kit I have. Poly control arm bushings and torque arm bushing. Poly33141 is the part number.

So I ordered the Energy Suspension 3.3141R which includes the torque arm bushing and the 4 lower control arm bushings. I installed it an so far it works great.
I also ordered the Rare Parts 15277 which looks identical to stock. I will keep it as a backup.
So those are your options in 2017.

On the rear lower control arm bushings they supplied side washers which fit the front mount, but not the rear.

I also realized the drivers side front mount hole had been elegonated, I guess due to excessive power. I welded a new washer over the elongated stock mounting hole, which hopefully will keep things square.
