Personally, I think we all take for granted that a lot of good things ( this site) will always be here when we need them, even if we don't contribute much to keep them alive. I am very guilty of this! We are all so busy trying to keep up with technology all while holding on to the past at the same time. Times change and sometimes we have to also. I have only recently signed into FB but only have 2 friends (my wife and one daughter who lives in NJ) because I just wanted to check out the Market place stuff. I don't have time to look at what everyone else is doing. I can barely keep track of myself and my kids! This place always seems warm and inviting with so many true enthusiasts ready to share tons of knowledge in the common ground we all share. Glad things are going ok for you Marco. Nice to know you're missed isn't it?

This site definitely has a different feel than the Facebook sites. This was always "the" place to go for H body information or discussion. The Facebook groups are ok, the problem is there are too many. Any individual can start a new group, as a result there gets to be so many groups and it just slices the pie into smaller pieces. We are still a small group, but know we are scattered all over the place. I guess it is what it is, but I preferred just one place to go instead of a dozen or so.

Let's don't make it sound like a death in the family. This site has history on it's side. Sure, the day you could just hop on here and ask a question and get 20 replies in an instant are long gone. That said, It has a heck of a great search engine. Ya, you gotta dig and if you don't like digging then FB might be for you. You need a part? Well, Mr. Cjbiagi can find you any part that ever came on an H-Body. I'll fully admit you can get hooked on Facebook pretty easily without even realizing it and then all of a sudden this Forum seems somewhat passe' and insignificant.

I don't FB but I've seen my wife searching through hers trying to show me something she saw. Scrolling....scrolling....scrolling....and much of the time she can't find it.

Here we have posts sorted by category, and with that search function. I can usually find what I'm looking for rather quickly.

It's interesting what has happened over time. At first it was Yahoo, sites for both h-bodys and Cosworths. This site followed and basically killed Yahoo h-body, the search function here worked better and photos could be added to your post. Then along came FB but in reality it didn't function much different from here, it does have a search function. I stayed off it for a long time. My wife was on it but there was no rhyme or reason to all the different postings. They came from everywhere from everybody. When the Cosworth page was added to FB I stayed away for over a year but it killed the Yahoo CV site. I later took the bullet and joined but I did or I should say there was one thing I didn't do, I decided to not friend anyone. On the surface it may sound harsh but what happened was I only saw postings that were related to Cosworths. It has made it very acceptable to me. I do check this site 2-3 times a day because there is still so much history and information here. I like the fact that there are shortcuts here for engines, suspensions, drivetrains, racing etc. FB can be a jumble of things and searches sometimes get confusing. The other problem with FB is that there has grown to be too many sites for basically the same things. It works good for CV's because it's very targeted but with h-bodies in general this site is the best.

I don't facebook, but I did join once and when I logged in I had like 20 friend requests..I looked over the requests and quickly cancelled my account..that was it for me..facebook for 5 minutes to much. My wife does it but not as much as she used too, when she first signed up she was a FB junkie for a while...

It's a Millennial's world right now...

They want it instantly and lot's of it thus the birth of social media which by all accounts pretty much rules your daily life if you let it. Hey, I may sound like a old Foggie, but today it's important to choose what media fits your needs. That said, resist and you be left behind asking ,"what the hell just happened". The internet is extremely important to me, I stream everything, I don't pay for cable or any mass media. I VPN and keep my internet footprint as small as possible. In fact, lately I come to this beautiful site to relax and read new posts as well as old posts.

Back in the day, I was member 56 on the Yahoo club and then to EZBoard and eventually this site. I mean that's been 20 years now? Sure I would disappear for awhile. My two H-Body's have been of little concern at times. I have owned all sorts of Hot Rods, Classic's etc and sold them all and I will fully admit I would have sold my H-Bodys if someone would have made me a offer. They have stood the test of time and for some odd reason they won't let go of me. So...what am I saying? Facebook and crass, indignant, snoopy, un-regulated commercialism to me is just a phase and II'll roll with the punches just like my two H-Body's have.

When everyone gets tired of FB like all of the other My Space and whatever they were called sites..... this site will hopefully still have the real bones that the others probably don't have. I don't really know cuz I dont FB either, except for a few local swap and sell sites in general. I might check them every couple weeks or so unless I'm actually looking for something. There are true professionals HERE with more experience and passion for h-bodies that only comes from years of work. But I'm old school... I like this place even though I haven't had much time to be here or to work on the car. That's changing though.

It looks like more and more people have abandoned this site for whatever reason ... personal responsibilities, priorities, peer pressure to join the Facebook crowd. Maybe they've given up on their h-bodies and moved on. This site abandonment has a domino effect. Questions that are posted go unanswered, causing those that have posted the questions, to go elsewhere for their answers. Once members leave, it's hard to get them back. Also, a topic can appear rather dead on a public forum, but actually goes viral on Facebook or Twitter. If a board is generally inactive, no one’s going to want to return to it to see what’s been going on.

I do agree times do change and that you have to adapt, but some things never change. Look at vinyl records. CDs, MP3s, and streaming have not been able to completely replace them (even though modern vinyl may be digitally mastered and not analog).

So, we old school diehards need to decide how to make this board exciting again, in order to fight the Facebook and Twitter invasion.
