Looking for the twin turbo Vega in California...

Postby cozwurth » Mon Jul 03, 2006 7:53 am

Does anyone have a link to the site that has the write-up about the twin turbo Vega? I think he is in Long Beach, California. I remember something about "Hangar 18 Fabrication" or something similar. When I google "Hangar 18 Fabrication" I get a ton of alien conspiracy theory web sites....

I was trying to show a friend what a relatively stock chassis Vega can do in the right hands, and there were some pictures of 'wheels-up' launches at the track.

Thanks,
Dave D.

Joe, thanks for the link.

Andrew,
I've been bragging on your fabrication on the turbo/intercooler setup on your Vega. A friend of mine built an LT4/T56 S-10 pickup that's running pretty quick, and he's thinking of building a big block Monte Carlo. He's talking tubs, etc. I'm not sure he believes that a non-tubbed Vega can do a wheels-up launch, but now I can show him proof.

I just checked the link and the navigation buttons don't load or work. Is the site still under construction, or is it just me?

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Dave! It takes some work, but it can be done. There is a whole class at Ohio Valley Dragway in KY just for the little 8.5" slicks called Outlaw 8.5. The top half of the class all run 5.80's in the 1/8th, and they're all N2O cars. I'm looking to go in the 8's in the 1/4 on these tires. Now that I have a boost controller on it, it will be much easier to control the power when I turn up the boost. . .then it should pull the tires harder and longer. The 3.25 gear in the rear is what pulls the tires down after the launch.

For the navigation buttons, you probably need to update your machine's Java Runtime software. I believe you can do it at http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Andrew,
You should update your menu to a heir menu that is more w3c compliant.

take care,
Colin
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

I don't even know what that means! I do want to redo the sites without the frames format and the color scheme, but I just haven't found the time. I haven't even updated the site in a year.

These are about the only ones that I have. Full ladder bar with coil over shocks all under the stock floor.

There is also a twin turbo Vega in Kansas City area. Check out Eriks photos on the KC meeting.
