Bryan, I see you installed a Auto Custom Sound Stereo. How about some pics and comments about how it looks and fits?

Hey Clyde
I will have to borrow a camera to take pics (the interior shots in my 'Garage' are while the car was still being finished, with an old cheapie stereo, not the Custom Autosound install)), but I'd be more than happy to ASAP.

As for fit, it is a perfect fit (knobs are adjustable anyways to make it fit). I highly recommend it, especially if you don't want to cut the dash in your car. The head unit I have is a stereo AM/FM with Cassette (USA-5 - which has a Chevy bowtie logo on the cassette door) and I also have their 6-CD changer hooked into the system (I see they only offer a 10-CD changer now). The whole package was called "USA-5PKG for Chevrolet Monza".

I placed the 6-CD changer in behind where the rear speaker option is located (if your car came with that option). For those that don't know, it is mounted in the molded carpeted area of the hatchback, driver's side. I wanted to rig a solid bracket for it, but it is just too tight in there so I placed insulation and sound deadener on both sides and slid the unit in, perfect fit, nice and snug, does not rattle or move at all, and the CDs rarely ever skip while playing/driving.

I didn't get this, but may do so in future. They also have in-dash stereo speakers, to replace the mono speaker that came from the factory.

Let me take some pics of the stereo, speaker and CD changer location to give a better idea, but give me a few days for that.

I took some pics today and once I get a card reader, I'll be able to download them to my comp. For some reason, the USB port directly to the camera from the comp won't work.

Bryan,
Is a card reader the same as a palm reader? lmao
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

I think it is Colin, told me my car would be mint for life, lol!

I have some pics of the radio install/location in the mods in my garage. They provide the chrome plate that helps to cover the opening since the radio itself is a little smaller than the factory opening in the dashboard, but the knobs were perfectly placed.

Apparently I can only use 1 pic in the folder for mods done to the car so I'll include here then.

might be able to fit a small emergency bottle jack back there. There like 2 inches around X 6 inches long.

I have one that'll fit anywhere, and it'll raise the car but I dont know what its from.

I do have a small scissor-jack that might fit with the spare tire, I'll have to check.

ok im not shure about the chrome bezel did this need to be on there for the radio to stay in? other than that i love the look and i even have the rear speaker option in the CO6! i'll assume there is no speaker in that location? what should i do for front speakers? because my panels are mint, don't want to cut.

The bezel is a little large, I agree, and I wish it was smaller, but c'est la vie. The bezel just sits there, it is not attached to anything, the radio is in place due to the bracket in back I used and modified as well as the nuts on the knob arms. The face plate of the radio is a little smaller than the factory opening so it is used to cover the gaps around the radio and I prefered the look at present than seeing the gaps between the radio and the opening, personal choice is all. I'll borrow a camera again and take a shot without the bezel for you.

As for front speakers, Custom Autosound also offers stereo speakers that will fit under the dashboard in the factory mono speaker location in our cars. I don't have this option, yet, but I do love the idea and will use it in other cars and probably get a set for the future, for my Spyder.

I was thinking of making a bracket to fit the center speaker hole in the dash to hold two of the stock size GM replacement stereo speakers I think around 3" or so,under the grill and angle them left and right to seperate the sound as it reflects off the windsheild sort of like /\ but not that extreme.

That is what I got done to my car when the mono speaker failed. A local stereo shop made up a custom bracket to fit in 2 2.5" or 3" speakers and kind of angled them to point to each side of the car a little bit. It looks ugly, but it is under the dash and it is not seen.
