Classifieds Section

Colin, for the record, I do not AT ALL like the classifieds process. Why should there be a link at the bottom, only to tell you you have to go somewhere else....it's a pain.

hey Bacchus,
I'm not sure what you mean.. do you mean a link on the left or on the main forum index page.. the classifieds section on the main forum index page will soon be gone..

I intend to streamline the Classifieds section a bit but I need to think about how best to do that.

I mean the main page. Personally, I like it to be just as you have it set up on the main page. I'm a frequent poster at jeepsunlimited.com and corvetteforum.com, both of which are similar design to this one. Getting into a rating system and all that other stuff is just a lot of hassle on your part. I suggest refering people to outside rating groups or eBay ratings to control it. You don't want to be arbitrating ratings on a daily basis.

hehe.. well, the site owners of CorvetteForum make anywhere from 10-15 grand a month in ad revenue. Trust me, if I made that much I'd have a wicked forum, too lmao

I'll do what I can, I promise..

Yeah, but remember that a lot of that money goes back into the forum over there. You are right, it takes ad revenue to get that kind of support and a user base of more than a few hundred. In this case I was suggesting that you keep the classifieds with the standard open forum and not try to manage them too closely. Your call.

I kind of like the end result of the classified setup, althouigh I agree that if Colin has to touch every ad it looks like a lot of extra work for him.
Just to go on the record I hate the stupid "he who replies first gets first crack at the part" rule over on corvette forum. I actually wrote to Mojo (the moderator) to try to get him to change it. You just get a bunch of guys jumping in line while they think about whether or not they want it, and then you get stroked for a week or two moving down the line. I suggested he change it to "he who says I will take it first".
Hey Bacchus, did you get your car to South Carolina?

Yep, the car is in SC and I'm in the process of getting my garage arranged. I'll be finishing the car. I just need to get some things with the new house finished up (decorating, furniture and such) and get the garage better organized (it's full of boxes).

Glad to hear you managed to hang on to it. It's a nice looking project.

Is there a way to incorporate both ideas together? I also like the original setup, seperate sections for sale, trade and wanted ads in the forum but also to have the option of posting pics seperately (rather that in the thread), info, pricing, etc similar to the classified section?
