this idea was tossed around in another thread but i didn't want to hijack it any more than it allready did

these are some ideas thanks to guys with photoshop

strip it down make it as light as possable and use it for a road trip camper and to hual stuff
i like the last pic it would be cool with the same wheels and paint as the tow car

i allso like the wagon one but not with a hatchback tow car

the bad thing is it will need all the rare parts

a good hatch front and rear valances grill and so on

but i quess the unlimited products race car parts could be used and would save weight

If you used a low-slung straight axle from a trailer, and put a flat floor in the Vega....did away with the axle hump. I bet you could sleep in it.

The first one appears to be the easiest to fab up. Make the top removeable or hinged to prop up like the hatch.... throw on some nylon from a tent maker..... BAM! Vega Pop-up!
Like Ray said.... tube frame the trailer.... and then add the fiberglass quarters, valances, ect. I wonder how a fiberglass front clip could be used?

I'd love to do something like this as I bought an early Vega towing setup years ago only to find it didn't fit the later model gas tank that was swapped into my early car.
Now, the '73 will bolt right up to it.

That would be awesome. Texas, New Jersey, Ohio.... here I come!

They make entire fiberglass bodies that would be great for this. On top of not having to hack up rare vegas , they are also light weight.....
By the way ,its really not my cup of tea.

You know....Someone with a Vega HB model kit would be able to mock this up in an afternoon.
Unfortunetly I only have wagon kits.
But I would vote the last one.

Couple years ago I was at a car show and saw something similar but it was a dilorean with a trailer with the rear and front of a car put together.

I like the last one, also.
I think Doug has the right idea. For the front of the trailer, put a FRONT end on it.

i wouldn't cut up a good body to do this but i have one that is junk i'm seriosly thinking of doing it to it the trailer wouldn't have to be perfect get a junk body and bondo what you have to and so on

the last picture is my basic idea but the roof line would need tweeking

fiber glass body would be nice to work with but way out of my price range

you could shape a sheet of metal like the windshield and paint it black or use lexan windshield to solve the rare windshield problem

unlimited products sells a front valance that would work ok

the good hatch, grill and rear valances would be hard to find cheap

maybe use a fiberglass pin on rear hatch

what do you guys think of the wagon one i think it looks awsome it would be cool behind a wagon

My problem with it would be my memory. I'd have a senior moment and foget I had a trailer and start freaking out over the jerk who is tailgating me so closely!

The thought came to mind of causing a crash because you were to busy trying to get the guy in the Vega behind you to catch up and pass you so you could flag him down to talk to him...lol

Sorry

The best axel for a flat floor is a torsion bar set up, with the swing arm, I have it on my snowmobile trailer, and converted my previouse trailer from leaf to torsion bar. They ride good empty, one or two sleds, full of building meterial, or full of rail road ties, and both could carry over an actual ton of weight (durable). You could take a shell that the bottom is toast but the top is good and weld in a flat floor.

When I drove Celebrity wagons, we used to kick around how neat it would be to have the two rear doors back of another wagon towed behind the first! Flat floor, rear and front storage compartments too. This was brought about by a guy who actually cut the rear doors back from a Ford Fairlane and made a trailer, that thing looked weird! Two doors and a trunk. :p

The tandum axle trailer would be good for camping. Kind of looks like a pop-up tent trailer.
