New pic of the Astre

Postby v8astregt » Thu Jul 13, 2006 6:25 am

Just thought I'd show you all a new rear shot I got of the Astre. Really shows off the aggressive rake, and tire size difference! I have V8 springs up front, and aluminum heads and the front settled an additional 1" after I drove it for the first time! Oh well... there is not interference with anything, so I'll leave it... besides, it looks mean!

The stripe was my doing.

Luckily this car was original paint, so I spent several hours transferring it over to butcher paper. I then brought it to "Fastsigns", and $300 later I had a perfect set of Astre GT stripes!

Looks good. Brings back a few memories.
What size and backspacing are your rear wheels? What size tires are on them?

Thanks for the compliments!

The wheels are 15 x 7's... I don't know the offset exactly, they were just a pair I had laying around. The tires are 26x10.5 Mickey Thompson ET Streets. After I rolled the lips, they seem to be fine as far as rubbing. But I do have the 3rd gen Camaro springs out back too so it sits a little higher with that. It does seem to squat pretty good when I get on it (at least that's what people say), so I'm thinking of adding the airbags in the rear to stiffen it up a little so it doesn't hit when I really romp on it. But of course having both my sway bars off probably doesn't help too much either!

Thanks again for the compliments! Once I get her running cool, I'm gonna drive it to the shop, where I can repair and weld a few things (like the front sway bar bolts... the nuts are spinning in the frame). Then I'll get my sway bars on, and start detailing the suspension! The brown rearend and K-member are really irritating me! lol!
