"Fasten Belts" light won't turn off

Postby 75_2+2 » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:19 am

As the title of the post. I can not for the life of me figure out how to get this light in the dash to turn off. It is a red warning light and it is becoming annoying. I have even taken out the seats to look at the wires to the seat belts and I can't find anything wrong.

Anybody have any thoughts :?:

Has to be a short somewhere. Check the wires behind the dash light, and pull up the carpet on the driver's side.....they didn't do a very good job routing or protecting these wires.

Does the light go out when you plug in a seat belt?

usually when the seat belt is plugged in it it will complete the circuit. The light generally will stay on if there is an open in the circuit. If you tie the wires together near the seat belt latch and the light goes out then the problem may be with the latch itself. Andy

You caught me. I forgot to say that the light is on even with the both front seat belts plugged in. I will pull the seats again when I get a chance and get under the carpet. Would an ohm meter help find a problem like this by chance?
