Wheel spacers?

Postby tjcoyote59 » Fri Jul 14, 2006 5:50 am

Has anyone here used wheel spacers on their vehicle?
I had a slight inboard rubbing on the tires going over some bumpy grass field for a car show.
I was thinking of going with a 1/2" inch billet spacer on each side. I have the plenty of space in the tubs before the fender lip.
Is this a NO-NO on tubbed or pro street vehicles?
Will there be too much stress on the studs? They are 1/2" x 3" press in studs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is only my opinion.....

if you use a billet spacer, and
if it is machined to fit the axle hub, and
if it also has its own hub to center the wheel,

....there should be no problem. Anything less than that, I would not trust.

Someone posted this site quite awhile ago. He makes these types of adapters and spacers. I talked to him once. Seems like a good guy.

CHEVROLET MADE A GREAT SET OF SPACERS FOR 75 MONZAS WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT . THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS INADEQUITE INSIDE SPACE FOR THE USE OF CHAINS "OOPS" seeing every one doesn't live in warm climates THEY MADE A WHEEL SPACER KIT AVAILABLE TO REMIDY THE SITUATION. ONE OF MY BUDDYS AT THE DEALER TOLD ME ABOUT THEM SO I GOT A SET FOR CLEARENCE FOR MY EXTRA WIDE 13 INCH 50 SERIES RADIAL T/A's I WANTED TO PUT ON MY NEW 5.7 LITER 2+2 MONZA BACK THEN. WAS JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED TO MAKE THE TIRES FIT. MAYBE CLYDE CAN FIND YOU A SET . HE'S GOOD WITH COMING UP WITH THE RARE AND HARD TO FIND PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
