Thanks for the compliments! Things like that are what keep my going in this hobby.

And yes, I will drive the pants off this thing! I pulled it out of a wrecking yard, so it's not like it's a super rare gem... don't get me wrong, it's come a long way, but I didn't build a $4500 355 for it to just sit!

And yes, it will make the Scottsdale Pavillions really soon. Probably in about a month when I get the interior further along. But I am gonna probably bring it to the eastside cruise at Lindsay/Warner since they are more "in-progress" friendly!

Oh, and I put insurance on it... $120 a month for a 20 yr-old male driver with full coverage including glass and roadside assistance... not bad at all! Through State Farm I might add.

Insurance

Postby vegaman2004a » Fri Jun 30, 2006 1:12 pm

Ouch Ouch ouch! $120/month for insurance. Yeough! thats $1440 a year.. granted a 20 year old male is a little higher but you should get into Haggerty for classic insurance.. I pay about $500 a year for 3 cars total.. My vega is about $145 /yr

try www.Haggerty.com

Doesn't Hagerty limit the annual mileage?

No, I don't believe so. It can't be your daily driver, however, and must be kept in a locked garage.

Here's the salt in the wound...

There isn't ONE collector car insurance company that will insure anyone under 25. 'Nuff said.

And, with State Farm, this is with full coverage, even glass and roadside assistance.

I do not have to garage it, and I can drive it to work and school, and put on as many miles as I wan't.

Collector car insurance, IF I were able to do it, really limits where you can take your car. Mine is going to be a driver.

For $1400 / year.. Buy another car as the primary and the Astre as the cruiser.. Between the two you might save some money..

You know.. that really isn't that bad, anyway.. my Focus was $400 for six months with full coverage but I didn't have glass or anything like that.

It's cheaper than a car payment ;) And when you hit 25 your insurance will be 'way' cheap.

My Camaro is on my policy for $12 per month. Liability only :D

I'm not displeased with what I'm gonna pay. That's with the fender bender I got in last July with the Blazer.

And as far as making another car the primary, I have my S10 blazer which is still part of the family policy, and I'll keep it that way, since right now it's $50 a month for that, and if I change it to my name, it will go up a lot being a high theft vehicle in the vehicle theft capital of the nation.

Besides, I'd like to be able to choose which one I want to drive when I want, and not worry about not meeting the conditions. AND I need the Astre full time for when I tear the S10 apart to install the V8.
