Looks great, Jeff! I'll have to stop by again and see it in person. I'll be interested to see which exhaust manifolds will end up fitting the best. Or do you suppose you'll have some headers bent up?

MOTORHEAD PORN

Seeing Jeff's Tempest in action at the Run Through the Hills autocross in Sevierville, TN was awe inspiring. Seeing the Vega in his hands is making me ..... uh... frothy.

yes, the LS6 intake is the better one on a 5.7, but not on a 5.3
Also the LS6 intake will set you back over $300.
I bought the LS1 intake for $35, which fits the low buck nature of this project better.

price wise you got me

i was more saying the ls6 because you are using the ls7 cam so i was thinking more in lines of rpm range matching , the 5.3 heads flow pretty well not as good as the 243's or 317's

I got the threaded Heim joint upper links made. The vega brackets welded on the s10 8.5 rear end and the new upper brackets fabbed. Re welded the factory brackets on the body. The rearend will be mounted in the car tomorrow.

Looking good. If you don't mind me asking, what size tires and wheels, along with backspace of wheels?

Looking great...

Any chance of you making more of the upper control arm mounts you have on the rear end?

Looking good Jeff!

funny thing , I read your post yesterday about installing the 8.5" rear from the s-10.....and later that evening I got to thinking, that makes sense. i mean when it comes time to re-do the rear on my Mirage I am thinking rather than blow apart and rebuild the 7.5", I will just start with a 8.5" rear from an s-10 and start from there.

Over the years (decades) I have done it the other way , built something....broken something , built something stronger etc (like shampoo instructions...."lather, rinse, repeat" ).

So after reading that post about your 8.5" I got to thinking, I should just start with that ...... and yes that should be enough for my Mirage....although the same idea could get one into a 12 bolt GM or a 9"ford if the car's direction warranted the stouter rear.

Perhaps its old age , and I am finally starting to benefit from years of experience...

Anyway , Thanks! and the car is coming along nicely :)
