The old Classifieds on the main index page is gu-gu-gu-GONE!

Postby ColinOpseth » Thu Jul 20, 2006 5:57 am

That's right.. it's gone..
It has been replaced with a link that will redirect you to the new Classifieds section.

I know that some of you are very upset with the current system because it needs a lot of work. Trust me, I don't really like it either. The developer has said he's committed to making it better but I won't wait for him to finish the ßeta code.

After I get the Garage squared away I'll tackle the Classifieds section. I suppose we can start a new thread for it, but right now I'll just say that you can kiss the old system goodbye!

Anyone interested in possibly seeing a random classifieds listing on the main index page or something? A Classifieds section "hook" of sorts?

I don;t think thats necessary really, the hook idea I mean. If someone needs something, they know were to find it, no need to splash yet another randon ad or image around for it. The garage feature is a goo done, the classified, I'd just stick with the format it is and leave it, they don't need a "plug" to get people to check it out.

I agree with Bryan. So long as people can easily find / see the Classifeds section, then a hook should not be neccessary.

Alright, so then is the location ok? I can put the forum link pretty much anywhere on the main index page.

I'd say keep it right where it is, I find a lot of forums have the classified at the bottom. If for no other reason, it forces everyone to see the rest of the topics available when scrolling to the bottom for the Classified, which are highly visited and used.

Bryan,

I think that would be a good thing. Seems that when I go to the classifieds section and click on the For Sale Items, it shows 23 items and only displays one page of items. I'm sure Colin can mak the adjustment and list maybe 50 listings per page.

-sigh-

Anyone else for making it the way it was, then? This is the same kind of format used on CamaroZ28.com albeit I haven't paid $150 for an annual license.
