But I don't know if I can use them because the soft, spongy material is hardened and is disintigrating. And it's really stinky (see photo). I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks. Wally.
Wally-
SMS has your EXACT perforated Vinyl material - 71-75 Vega custom (tetra) vinyl and colors. They will sell the material by the yard or they will make the covers. I provided a link for samples. They will respond quickly to a sample request.

http://originalauto.com/products/n-o-s- ... loth-vinylClassic Industries (Camaro) has the front bucket SEAT FOAM and covers - you can specify front only pair of covers, pre-made in a choice of several 71-77 Camaro vinyl or cloth patterns - the front seat foam and covers are styled the same as the Vega (pleating, etc) but your perforated vinyl material (used on 71-75 Vega custom trim option) was not available on the Camaro, only in a grained-vinyl, and using any of Classic's front bucket covers will require matching material/seat cover for the rear seat from AMS.

-Buy the front bucket seat foam from Classic, and buy the material/seat covers for the front buckets and rear seat from AMS if you want original Vega type vinyl pattern.
-get a quote on the seat covers made by SMS, and also a quote for just the material from SMS, with a quote from an interior shop for the labor turning the material into covers.
Are you planning on installing the covers yourself (on the new foams). Classic overs the installation kit. If not, you'll need a quote for installation. Find out if SMS will do it all , including the front foams and installation. Don't count on a new rear seat foam being made up however.
