A 1Hxxxxxx would be a Skyhawk. The 1Mxxxxx would be a Monza since the other M code would be for a Sunbird.

Although the H could also be for a Vega Panel or Astre as well.

A 1HM is a notchback, a 1HR is a hatchback. Obviously a lot has been changed on that car, who knows how it started out?

According to the faq:

anything that starts with 1 is chevy. Buick is 4, so a skyhawk would be 4H07xxxxxxxxx.

The H for H-body isn't part of the vin

H would be Vega Panel Wagon \ Astre\ Skyhawk depending on make.
1M can be Monza 'S' Coupe or Hatch (round lights)
but 27 is a notchback.

It would be easier to change the vin number than to change a notch back to a hatchback. But unless the hatchback was stolen why would anyone change the vin?
