Ok...click "img", then insert the picture address, then click "img" again......

Where do the pictures need to be stored? If I use the 'address' where the pic is stored on my harddrive, does that take a copy of it over to this Board?

Not quite sure. This Board is just slightly different from the phpBB I'm used to. It has a 'Browse' button to find the pic you want.

Someone point me in the right direction!

Reid, I'm no expert here either, but I clicked on this link down to the left when I'm at the "post a reply" page that says "BB Code". The page opens up and has How to's.
Anyway, here's a quote:

"Adding an image to a post
phpBB BBCode incorporates a tag for including images in your posts. Two very important things to remember when using this tag are: many users do not appreciate lots of images being shown in posts and second, the image you display must already be available on the Internet (it cannot exist only on your computer, for example, unless you run a webserver!). There is currently no way of storing images locally with phpBB (all these issues are expected to be addressed in the next release of phpBB). To display an image, you must surround the URL pointing to the image with tags. "

OK. So apparently I need to have them stored somewhere like Car Domain or PhotoBucket, perhaps?

Not a problem. Seems everyone else uses those, already.

Thanks.

NEVERMIND...I got it.

hey guys,
No worries about hosting pics. I'll have a system for you all very soon. Until tomorrow you can upload pics to your garage if you'd like. Just hang tight, it'll get better :)

Take care,
Colin

Sorry Colin... it was really a rhetorical question-- I was making the post for the purpose of seeing whether the avatar showed up.

And it did!

This board is amazing, man!! Good work.

I think the biggest problem I'm having is all my stored pics are too large, so I have to resize everything? What's the easiest way to do that?

how large are your images? if they're over 250-400k a piece i'd resize them and keep originals on your hard drive. If you're like.. 5k too large for the script i'll just raise the limit.

Hey, we've got 40gb of storage here to play with. No worries. I just want to keep page loading times down, ya know?

Use a photo editor to either "resize" the photo to a slightly smaller resolution, or save it with a slightly higher JPG compression...

If you're using WinXP, there is a program that comes with it called Microsoft Photo Editor (Should be under OPEN WITH when you right click on the picture) All you should have to do is open it with that and Click the SAVE button without changing anything, by default it uses higher compression.

I believe I uploaded a Freeware program called Pixelresizer in another thread. Yes, if you search for it you'll find it. The search works very well here lmao
