That part was made from the mold and the mold was made from a part that was not bolted to the car. The part I made the mold from was too brittle to bolt too the car so the part is a little off on the ends. Once I fit this part I can rework the ends of the mold or make new mold ends. This way nobody has to do a butt load of work to put this on their car.

Said it before...say it again....Thanks for your effort.

I'm working on it again. I have the ends of the panel just about fit to my car quarter panels. Once that is done the part will need to be fit back in the mold and the mold will need spot fit to the good part. Should have the taillight holes cut out in a few days.

That must be the most sought after H-Body, body panel! I've read stories about being people scrapping these cars because the rear valences are all rotted.

My youngest son has decided that after he graduates college (May 6th) he wants to race the Sunbird. The car has been sitting since October of 2014. The last pass the car made was a 10.77 at 130+ with a hurt trans.

Today, My wife and I worked on modifying the firewall to allow a flex plate shield to go in. We plan to pull our good engine from the Camaro and install in the next few weeks with a T350, instead of the T400 we used at the Challenge.

I am anxious for both boys to come home. They both graduate in May with Engineering Degrees.

The first step in version 2 - add a clearance pocket around the flex plate shield.

There is an H-Body member producing fiberglass versions of the Sunbird tail panels. Below is a link to his posting with a pic.

Any update on the new tail panel?

My Sunbird has not moved in over a year. Just last week, the original tail panel broke into 3 pieces, fell to the ground, and shattered into many pieces on the garage floor. :( :( :(

After a bunch of runs as a SBC, the Sunbird is being converted to an LS turbo combo. $150 4.8 and a $300 turbo. So far we have made the mounts, modified the right side exhaust manifold and made the left side header. Should be a sweet combo.

TO make room for the LS, we removed the steering shaft that is shown in these pics, and moved the column over 7/8". The shaft is now straight section.

79440bird wrote:That's a big scoop. Looks pretty good. Did you make a mold for the under brace or did you use wood? Looks like the scoop will hit the windshield when you open the hood. Does it have the stock latch at the front and hinges in the back?

It's a lift off hood, not hinged.
