sunbird tail panel mold in the works

Postby 79440bird » Thu Jul 17, 2014 5:01 am

What's a new fiberglass tail panel worth? I am making a mold so I can make fiberglass tail panels, as both of my sunbird cars are in desperate need. I Was wondering if their is anybody else that is interested in one. Was planning on making it so u can cut the holes out yourself for the tail lights that way u can use the original taillights or put custom one's in . any thoughts?

While I don't have a Sunbird, judging from the number of people here looking for one, I'd say get ready to be busy molding them. It's awesome that you are filling this huge need in the H-body hobby!

Would the same one work for both since the lights aren't cut out?

Awesome as Marco was also looking into this on an earlier post as well! I'm sure that sooner than later I'll be able to replace mine as well. Hooray! keep us in mind, depending where you are, shipping should be the last concern then.

Hi it's Doug. I'm in the Detroit area. I'm hoping to have this done in the next 4 month. I'm doing this in my spare time an when the mold is done the part can be made in about 4 days. I figured if the taillights hole r not cut out u can use it on both cars monza an sunbird. If anybody is interested in a hood. I have a mold for a sunbird 2 1/2 " cowl. Made 2 hoods out of it so far. And I have a vega hood mold. It's the corvette stingray style not the l87 style. Nice mold scoop is about 2" haven't made a hood yet as I been busy also have a mold for a 4 1/4 gas cap but u have to use your metal piece. I have a friend that I'm teaching to learn this stuff so hope in the future we can make sum parts for the H body crave. Sunbird440w@gmail.com

Doug, PM sent, thnx Ron.
P.S. ..just a thought, leave a bit extra material to be trimmed off afterwards and/or during the installations just in case some of the vehicles have had previous repairs done to them in case of fitment issues. The tailamp cut out idea is genius, thanks Doug :th:
