Invites to GM H-body forum and family

Postby mahoy78spyder » Sun Jul 20, 2014 2:35 pm

Hey everyone, I've had this thought running around in my head for quite some time now, and just haven't taken action yet as time is precious these days. (I've worked 80 hours this week already... my only 'fun' time is the occasional post on this site) Anyway, I just saw yet another post of an 'H-body siteing' somewhere and the inevitable questions/statements of "I wonder if he's on our site?", or "We should invite him to join us!"

Well, I'm proposing this: How about we make up a business card template that anyone can download off this site and place it in a 'sticky' forum so that it's easily located. On it, it could contain the website / forum Name, URL, a logo perhaps, and just some basic info. (I'm looking for suggestions here). The idea is that we can all print them out to our own card-stock business card (perforated) sheets on our own printer, and have them available to pass out to those that we spot at car shows, on the Hot Rod Power Tour, or just random sightings while driving down the road. Even if you see an H-body parked somewhere, but don't see the owner, you can slip one of these business cards under the windshield wiper for them to find later.

Does anyone else think this is a good idea? ... and more importantly, is anyone here really adept at creating such an enticing, good-looking business card template to post on this site for others to download? :)

If you need some awesome business cards, I can fix you up with some. Any format, resolution, whatever.
im even willing to fab up more then one design, so you can setup a poll and let everyone choose, or several designs by various people.

That would be fabulous! Once you're created the designs, do you have a place you can post them for download?

The old H-Special mailing (H07 registry) came up with just such a thing, a business card that you could leave on a car with the relevant info to subscribe to the old newsletters that Mike Van Auken sent out almost quarterly for a time. And it just so happens that I kept one of those original cards as well. Unfortunately I am at work today and then won't be home to scan it for a couple days yet due to other commitments (Wed eve at earliest). Once I get a chance, I'll scan and post it here. It was really simple, sharp with everything you needed on it.

That's cool Bryan... I've got several of Mike's old H07 Registry newsletters back when I was a member, but I don't remember the business cards though. Interested to see that.

Yes this is a great idea! I've even gone so far as leaving a hand written note on a car windshield saying nice H-body car and "check out the H-body forum" with my name and info. I never received a reply but have on vehicles that I was interested in buying. A business card would be more professional and rhyolite from the Netherlands is also a good idea as he shows interest from the Europian connection and along with Bryan would really give some flavor to the whole thing! A combined or additional info from both sources would really be kool. The car owner might have relatives in other countries with the same interests. The idea to connect with folks that perhaps don't know about the forum, might cause them to chime in with other info and could also lead to a friend wanting to sell or contact us about parts or other info. It can only be a good thing. I've learned over the recent months that there are many hidden vehicles out there just wanting to be acknowledged and found. At the various shows I attend people are still blown away that these cars even exist. A # of weeks ago in Edmonton at a show, two red Monzas were sighted leaving at the end of the event and if I could've caught them sooner, I would have attempted to contact these owners. They blasted down the street and it was too late and I've been wondering ever since who they were! :? If this is a doable donation of a persons time, then congrats for the time you have donated, good idea :th: The" H-Body Organization " sticker on the rear of the car also helps but I won't stick one on any car, just my own
Just another thought, an "invitation" to join in on the "fun" and the "most informative forum" might add a nice touch...

Ill fix the cards next week, have some ideas on them. What's the average size of an US card?(the perforated ones?) they probably have a different size from the ones found in Europe :) (8.5 x 5.5 cm)

I'll keep in mind of the color usage, so printing won't drain a specific color cartridge at ones :)
