Vega Side Marker Lens Alternative

Postby vegastre » Sun Jul 20, 2014 6:20 pm

After a lot of searching ...my buddy and I found 1970 MOPAR Plymouth B Body (Duster) side marker lenses that are almost the same size as First Gen Vega. They come in amber and red and are reproduced. See Pictures below. We slightly beveled the edges of the Mopar plastic backing to fit the recess and then drilled two holes in the lens matching stock lens hole location. You will also need old worn out Vega lenses as you need the back piece white plastic which is the bulb holder which then mounts behind the fender. Finally locate a couple of screws slightly larger than the stock ones and simply screw together as a unit. Sounds complicated but actually pretty easy.

Note~The Duster lens is not as orange as it appears in the pic.

Hoo boy, am I glad you posted this! I've been kicking ideas around on how to repair the many amber lens markers I have that are separated. Now I know!

You may want to clarify which Plymouth again. Plymouth B body was the Satellite/Roadrunner. I believe Duster was an A body.

Ok.
Good to know. A Body's too from 1970. Although I ordered the lenses from a B Body car It was/is from a 1970 Duster. It seams with the little amount of research I did 1970 B & A body's both had the same side markers. Other than 1970 I don't know if they shared the same lenses. This would take someone knowledgeable with other years or parts catalog.
