A/C Non A/C Heater Cores

Postby Biscayne John » Thu Jul 31, 2014 12:32 am

Well like I said in another topic my son is over and helping me with posting photos, so this is my first attempt at a solo

A few weeks ago there was a post asking the differences between a non A/C heater core and an A/C one. Well I have one of each. I have to replace the one in my Skyhawk with A/C and I just remved on from this 77 Mirage I am parting out. hope this will help in the future

The non A/C core is about 2 inches longer, the A/C core will fit in the box fine. Just would have to drill two holes to move the retainer back to accommodate the shorter A/C core.
The problem is with the location and angle of the feed and return nipples. This will require a someone who can solder (everyone has a friend who is plumber) or taking it to a shop and have them remove the tank from the non A/C and install it on the A/C core.

More to come I will have photos of the A/C core in the non A/C box and I will try to see how far off the nipples are from the opening on the engine side heater box. That will be part 2

The A/C core will fit just is 2" shorter, same thickness but will require some plumbing to be moved on the supply and return nipples. If you could get the right size coupling just a matter of sweating some joints. I saw that I had the opertunity to have both side by side so I thought it might answer some questions in the future
