Clock quartz conversion kit

Postby MonzaMikeV8 » Sun Aug 31, 2014 6:58 am

Has anyone ever tried to convert his clock with one of those kits ? I'm thinking to buy one off ebay if i knew that it would work. My original movement is stuck & i'm not shure if the replacement kit replaces the whole movement. If not, probably parts of the movement will still stick...

On the other hand, if anyone has a working clock FOR A 1975 DASH and wants to get rid of it, please let me know !

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike I have purchased the ISI Quartz Movement from eBay and it is a lot of small parts in the box You do have to reuse many parts ie: face, hands, and the case for sure! Mine is for the '76 > '80 version. I will try and get some pic's for you to hopefully help you out. Harry This is the '75 version you would need.

Hi. I bought a NOS standard Vega clock a few years ago. I rebuilt my Vega GT clock with it. It lasted 2 days. The NOS one was also brittle and cracked. My advice is to do the quartz conversion. Just take pictures of the old on as you disassemble it.

The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

Ahh yeah, i tried to fix it. First i discovered that the thin wire from the positive contact to the coil was blown. So i fixed this first. But then i figured that the pulley which is carried backwards from the magnetic coil doesn't do anything. I guess it should carry the red gear underneath but doesn't. It's probably loose from it's axle. Some of the other gears don't move either. Even if i try to manually turn them. The whole thing is just stuck somehow. I probably have to ask a clockmaker to help out. I actually don't know how to tear this thing apart, even if i knew, i would never ever be able to put it back together.

So i wonder if such a conversion kit would ever work for me, when everything is stuck and loose.
