Headlight Assembly -'73 Vega

The headlight fell out. Looks like the trim ring broke. Does any other car (other than H-body) interchange? Will '74 and up fit? Are the springs available and will I need any other hardware?

The drawing from the do it yourself manual is perfect!

Thanks,
Larry

Don't know of any other car that wil fit but I do know the '74-up vega won't. I had the same problem and was lucky enough to have a spot welder at work to put it back together.

Hopefully some other (more common) car used the same basic headlight assembly......

Thanks for the info. I have the three tabs, so re-spot welding is a possibility.

Larry, Even though the rings are made of a grade of stainless...I have welded those tabs back on with regular steel wire in a mig welder. Drill a hole in the ring & weld the tab on through the backside so the rusty spot doesn't show. Lorne

pretty sure you can use any round GM single headlight ring.

I am using a '55 headlight rim which I modified. The headlight works but looks about 30 degrees off center. This might be a problem with other rings (Camaro?). Drilling a hole and using a MIG is a great idea as long as I don't disintegrate the small piece

Thanks for the input,

Hi Larry.

Good news. You can buy these brand new.
Check rockauto.com.
I used them on my car and 3 screw holes lined up perfectly with factory buckets.

Sorry Larry.
I got them through Summit, not RockAuto.
Made by OER. Here's the link...

RockAuto does have a lot of Vega goodies though if you haven't browsed the site, it's likely worth a look.

I have to agree rockauto never seems to amaze me at what they have available for all models of cars. Oh and great prices too. :th: :th: :th:
