Opinions on these new tires..

Postby marco_1978_spyder » Mon Jan 19, 2015 9:08 am

Looking for opinions on these tires...

I don't think I can find a better deal anywhere on 4 tires.

Looks like a decent but entry level tire.

I put a set of these on my Sunbird wagon and they balanced out well, and drive nice. I have not driven the car long enough to coment on wear though. Just an option. and they are a wider tire 205/60/r13. http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-NEW-TIRES-205 ... 59&vxp=mtr

Thanks for the info and the link... I thought about those 205's. Thats my favorite size, but the price is a big consideration.

And I like the 185's because they're a tiny bit taller, and that's what this Sunbird needs since the front springs are down an inch with the weight of the V6 over the iron duke which is only about 40 -50 lbs.

Well... a 10% off coupon appeared, so I bit, and have 4.... 185 / 70's on the way. Thanks for the pic, those snowflakes look great! how hard was it to find those center caps? I like the black accent. That looks great too. Mine need refinishing. I have a half pint of gold formula accent color. I'm going to test it out on one spare rim soon.

My wife's cousin sells them by the ton at his tire shop in town here, Marco. ( cause they are a cheap price)

Just a cheap Chinese tire , had a recall in 2007 on them for tire separation but nothing since.

well, they were cheap. And you get what you pay for in this world. But adding to the slight uneasiness, is where I bought them from too, ebay. A perfect outlet for stuff you can't sell locally. At least for the type of driving the car will see... they'll be ok 'till they get replaced in 10 years, or the world runs out of oil, whichever comes first.

Well Marco, I had to buy some Westlake's from my wife's cousin yesterday since my last good BFG Mud Terrain started to separate .
( 10 years old).

He gave me credit - payment plan since I had no money to buy them outright. ( $280 for 2)

I got the 2005 used BFG's in a trade for a small trailer back in AZ in 2012 before I left.

I doubt I'll get 10 years out of them but time will tell............. :?:

Thats cool. I still havent had mine mounted yet. And one of them is bothering me until I get it mounted... it's as if the sidewall was had a bulge in it. I'm assuming it's just the way the tires were stored and it will go away once the tire is mounted and inflated. If not, I'm well passed the 14 day return time.

And now I realized I should have just stopped by a tire shop first thing to get their opinion. If this terrible winter would be over... probably not 'till late April!

Those tires look pretty good Doug.

I can say they ride better than the BFG's , but again the BFG's have 3 ply sidewalls ( Triguard) = stiff.

I'll keep you posted on the tire's wear and or problems , you can register the serial numbers online... ( seller was susposed to)
