Are there trailer hitches for Oldsmobile Starfires?

Postby Mastiffen » Tue Feb 10, 2015 1:33 pm

I am about to start on the turbo engine for my Starfire, and I plan to have the car on the road again some time in 2015. We're actually thinking about selling one of our "daily" drives, since I don't drive daily. I work from home, so we can make do with one car for less driving and a smaller electrical car for my wife (electrical cars are very cheap here in Norway because they have no taxes, unlike regular cars that have extreme taxes - you can buy a house in a small town for the cost of a Mustang). The problem is that we sometimes need a car with a trailer hitch, like when towing the boat and other stuff. So are there trailer hitches for a Starfire that can be shown to the Norwegian authorities as made for/officially recognized for them in the US?

Edit: Yeah, it would probably be a funny sight with a Starfire towing a 18 foot boat, but pretty cool! :D

Hi Mastiffen,
There are hitches for h-body cars but they are fairly small for your needs. Sorry but I don't remember where I have seen them posted here. Maybe someone with better memory can help.

I have an NOS H-body trailer hitch (hatchback style) I bought several years ago. Here's what it looks like if this helps.

Here is a link to one on eBay, but way light duty [literature in picture says #1000] for a big boat. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Valley-Tow-Rite ... 5e&vxp=mtr Class I is only 1000 Lbs. or there about's (450Kg) if I remember correctly for these other listings. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... h&_sacat=0 Not much help I know, but a custom one maybe built, but a large boat is still outside the weight carrying capacity of that chassis. :( Harry

Thanks, guys! Seems like I'm not going to do that, then. I need around 250 lbs to tow that boat, so I guess I'll have to find another solution. Like borrowing cars when I need to.
