Hello I am new to the site Vega, Sunbird owner

Postby wheelzy10 » Fri Mar 13, 2015 9:35 pm

Hello,

First time post here. My father passed away about 6 months ago and I inhereted his 1973 vega panel wagon (Prostreet) and a 1980 sunbird with a 355 chevy. My father was a full time mechanic and he was an avid lover of the H body cars. I am going to try and post pictures of the cars especially the vega because there are not many left like it. He purchased the car in 1974 and it has been in the garage all its life. The car is all factory paint with 2,025 og miles...The car was bought from dealer and turned into a prostreet...I have owned chevys all my life like camaro, chevelles but i sold off everything to keep the Hbodys in the family. I am sure glad I found this Forum and hope to meet some members

thanks Darren

Welcome to the site Darren. Sorry for your loss. You will find these cars to be a lot of fun, but sometimes frustrating trying to find parts, etc. It sounds like the Vega won't need anything but to be driven (2000 original miles, wow!). If you are anywhere near eastern Ohio make sure you check the stickied thread about the H-body show and races on the weekend of June 13th. Either car sounds like they would be great to see at that show.

Hi Darren,

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like your father built the Vega himself. Very cool.

Welcome to the forum, and sorry for your loss. Sounds like a fun pair of cars though.
As a relatively newbie around here, I will say these guys are great, and have a wealth of knowledge and advice.

I would think by enjoying these cars yourself and wrenching on them is a great way to keep your Dad's memory close to the heart.

Hello again finally got a chance to get a picture up of the vega. I just built a 377cu in. sbc for it that my father had purchased everything for before he passed. As I said this car is origanal paint (exept for hood and has 2,025miles fron factory. He Bought it off of a guy that purchased it with 600 miles and then sold it to him from there it went right in the garage and turned into this over the next 15 years. My father fabricated the whole frame and narrowed the rear in a little 1 bay garage when I was growing up. He built that grill himself and also molded some red levxan for the rear tailights for a little custom look. More pictures to come and I will get some of the sunbird also
