Fuel Tank Sender

Postby monzapla » Mon Jul 20, 2015 5:54 pm

Does anyone make a fuel sending unit for the H-bodies anymore? I have a 75 2+2 and Ive tried NAPA and several others with no luck.. I even pulled the fuel tanks from my parts cars and the sender units are pretty well rusted.
Thanks

Rock Auto says they have one for a 77 Vega that is the only new H-body Unit I could find from a supplier

The other option is to have one of your old ones repaired.

I got a bad one repaired by TriStar Radiator, find it on the "net", great work, quick and resonably priced. Probably easier than finding a new one.

Just to save someone the grief on purchasing one thinking it will work, it is "NOT" for a Vega.

I repaired mine in my 77 Monza by purchasing a reproduction on for a mid 70's camaro/firebird and ans swaping out the resistor portion of the sender. It is just crimped over and not that hard to remove and install on the other one. I do remember there is a 60 ohm and a 30 ohm unit , but pretty much that part is physically the same since 1955. I have all the paperwork at my other house of the exact one I used. Said and done it was still about $100

Does anyone happen to know the OHM (high & low) values for the monza sender? (or have one they could test)?
I have it pretty much figured out, just need to know the ohm's.

GM senders were 0-90 0hms. I have a NOS sender unit but really not sure I would want to let it go.

I think I might go 1 of 2 routes. Replace just the sender if I can match the right one.

or
Replace the complete unit with a sender & pick-up tube, (something like the one I listed below) then go with a remote pump. I think this might be the best way to go.

I don't want to force my opinion, just posting this in case you couldn't find it, here's an example of my sender before and after...viewtopic.php?f=14&t=39972
