Center Line Auto Drag wheels for 4 lug 4x4" bolt pattern

Postby Vega2008 » Thu Sep 17, 2015 6:05 am

I am in search of knowledge for Centerline Auto Drag wheels 05 series (Satin finish) for the 4x4" bolt pattern and tire sizes that will work on these rims for my 1975 Chevy Vega Hatchback.

Center Line Wheels #184-055703440
Auto Drag 05 Series Satin Wheel •Size: 15" x 7"
•Bolt Circle: 4 x 4"
•Rear Spacing: 3-5/16"

Hoping this size wheel will not be an issue in the front or rear of my car.

I am also hoping that the tires I want to use: 205 50R 15 would fit these wheels without rubbing issue on the car in the front or the rear.

I also know they do make a 15" x 5.5" wheel in 4x4" bolt pattern too, but am really wanting to use the wider rims I have listed above if they will work for me.

This is the 15" x 5.5" part number...I would prefer not to use unless the 15X7" wheels are going to be a problem in the front:

Center Line Wheels#184-055553440

Auto Drag 05 Series Satin Wheel •Size: 15" x 5-1/2"
•Bolt Circle: 4 x 4"
•Rear Spacing: 3-5/16"

II am up for any suggestions for 15" Center Line Auto Drag wheels 4 lug x 4" bolt patterns and 15" tire combos from people that have used these in the 4x4" bolt pattern wheels before.

My Modified 1975 Vega Hatchback (front clip is converted to 1971-72 style parts) has the stock 4 lug x 4 inch bolt pattern, and I want to confirm if the 15x7 Center Line wheels listed can be used in the front and rear of the car or not.

The idea here, is so I can use the same size rims and same size tires all the way around to be able to rotate them. This car is a driver, and not a racer.

I would prefer to not do the S-10 spindle and axle swaps, I just want some 15" wheels 4x4" Bolt Center that fit right without having to modify my car.

My motor is a Modified Buick even fire V6 ( 275HP) and stock Saginaw 4 speed and stock rear end.

I want to ditch my 205 60R 13 tires and slotted aluminum 4 lug wheels, and upgrade to 15" tires/wheels as 13" tires are just getting to hard to find any more.
My 205 60R13 tires are all new, and they are placed on all 4 corners of the car, but if I wear them out it will be too hard to find new ones in this size.

If I can use the 15x7" Center Lines for all 4 wheels, I want to find out what size tires I can put on these that won't have rubbing issues in the front and rear.

Hoping to keep all 4 tires the same size so rotating won't be an issue.

If you have any advice...other than swapping to S-10 spindles and the S-10 2 WD rear axles please let me know.

Thanks Mike - Vega2008

Thanks for the reply Dick!

I suppose if a 15"x8" size wheel with 4 inch backspace (zero offset) fits with 225 50 R15's tires then the 15"x7" with a 3 5/16 inch backspace should fit okay with the 205/50R15 tire. I'll assume you have the size same rim and tire size on all 4 wheels you put on your car...looked that way to me.

I really don't want to have to re-drill my rotors or axels for the 4x100mm size studs since the Center Line Auto Drag wheel already has the 4x4" bolt circle pattern when I order them.

My next step is to call JEGS to confirm the wheels with fit the stock 7/16"-20 RH studs with the proper Shank style lug nuts. I don't want any issues if I spend around 1087.04 for the Center Line rims.

I appreciate you sending the link to me. By the way the wheels/tires you put on the car look very nice, the color of the wheels compliment the black with gold stripe very well.

Thanks,

My wheels are 15X8 and are zero offset which gives a backspace of 4 1/2. Your 15X7 wheels with a 3 5/16 backspace would not be zero offset, here's a chart.

https://classicmini.wordpress.com/2009/ ... ni-cooper/

Yours may still fit but the outside of the rim will be at least as far out as mine, I didn't try to figure it out exactly.

Thanks for sending me a link to that wheel offset chart Dick.

I called up JEGS on 09/17/2015 , and had them call up Center Line on 09/18/2015 to verify that the 15x7 inch wheels I am interested in will fit the 1975 Chevy Vega in either the satin finish or the polished finish.

JEGS called me back and said that Center Line confirmed these wheels 15"x7" 3 5/16" backspace Auto Drag wheels will fit the Chevy Vega with the stock bolt 4x4" (4x101.6mm) bolt pattern.

Center Line does not have these in stock, so they will have to be made for me and shipped out - About 3 to 4 weeks quoted from JEGS.
The JEGS Website shows if I Order Today they Ship out 11/18/15

In case anyone else is interested in this information:

The Centerline part for the polished 15"x7" wheel with a 3 5/16 inch backspace = JEGS Part #184-065703440 - $271.76 each (free shipping) price as of 09/19/2015.

Centerline part for satin 15"x7" wheel with a 3 5/16 inch backspace = JEGS Part #184-055703440 - $271.76 each (free shipping) price as of 09/19/2015.

So regardless if the Center Line wheels I order are polished or satin, the price comes out to 1087.04 for a full set....not including the valve stems. The Center Line wheel caps were included with the wheels in case anyone else may want to know.

I'm ordering 2 wheels to start with just to play it safe. I can mount them onto the car on the front and rear to double check the fitment before buying the other 2 wheels.

Since the bolt pattern I order will be custom made, I am not sure I can return them if they don't work for me...but they should fit okay.

Thanks again!

Just an FYI - The Centerline polished 15"x7" wheel with a 3 5/16" backspace 4 lug x 4" bolt circle= JEGS Part #184-065703440 - $271.76 each (free shipping) with price shown as of 09/19/2015...Will fit the rear of the Chevy Vega without any clearance (rubbing) issues...but these wheels will stick outside of the fenders if you try to mount them on the front...glad I played it safe and only ordered two of these wheels instead of four of them.

The two 15"x7" wheels that I bought will only go on the rear of the car. (The 15"x7" denotes 15" diameter x 7" inside diameter where the tire meets the inside of the wheels). They are actually 8 inches wide overall from outside edge to outside edge of the wheels, in case anybody needs to know.

I just ordered two of the Centerline Auto Drag in 15''x 5.5" wheels for the fronts, these also show to have a 3 5/16" backspace - Jegs part # 184-065553440.
$264.60 each, and includes center caps, free shipping.

If you want to locate these 15"x5.5" with 4 lug x 4" bolt circle pattern wheels in Jegs online, you have to look them up by the part number. For some reason the Jegs part # 184-065553440 for these wheels do not show up in the Center Line Auto Drag wheel chart when looking in the Center Line Auto Drag wheels (they have a chart that shows available sizes/bolt patterns and this part number doesn't show up.

I had to call to find this out, as I thought the 15x7 or the 15x3.5 were the only option for the 4x4" bolt pattern wheels....it's not.
Waiting until sometime in December for the front wheels to arrive...my early Christmas present to myself.

I may go with 195 50R15 tires in the front and 205 50R15 in the back at this point...will see once the wheels get here.

Thanx! I have looked on Jeg's and Summit both and found nothing.

That is the standard for wheel sizing, this is the reason offset always seems "Off" to back spacing easy to figure when you know where to look. Harry

Do you still have the stock springs and front end in your car. Does it stop good with the stock brakes.

Hey I converted to front coil overs and S10 Blazer brakes because I was not happy with the braking.

My new 15"x5.5" Center Line Polished Auto Drags with 4 lug x 4" bolt circle pattern wheels (for the front of the car) finally arrived from Jegs online. Jegs part # 184-065553440.

I mounted a full set of new KUMHO Ecsta PA31 195/55R15 85V tires on the front and rear wheels of my 1975 Vega Hatchback.

The Rear wheels are 15"x7" Center Line Auto Drags 4 lug x 4" bolt circle. Center Line Wheels #184-065703440. The Tires I listed above fit onto both sets of wheels...fronts and rears, and doesn't look like there will be any rubbing issues in case anyone was still following MY previously Hi-Jacked thread.

Happy New Year!

:)
