Wiper Delete Plugs??

Postby EVL VEGA » Tue Oct 20, 2015 11:43 am

My car came with no wipers or motors. They installed a single plug in the hole on the driver's side but not on the passenger. If the cowl hood is in place then you can't see the passenger side hole. However, i haven't put a hood on it in well over a decade. (and that hole has bugged me all this time)
The tiny cowl hood it came with wouldn't work with an air filter.
So my question is:
Anyone know where can i get wiper delete plugs that will fit? It seems like ebay only has "sweet" anodized Honda and Porsche plugs. Not sure if they will work.

I bought generic chrome hole plugs in the "nuts bolts & widgets" aisle at Home Depot.
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

Nice. :th:
How do they hold up? Sounds like I'll be making a Depot run.

evl vega's diagram gives me a brain cramp. That's some pretty serious M.C. Escher stuff. I especially like the Mobius nuts.
I think my local Home Depot does have a sense of humor; at the end of the aisle with all the bins and trays of nuts, bolts, screws and washers, is a section with grommets, hole plugs and other odd-ball stuff and I swear some of the trays are labelled "widgets". A widget being the term used to describe a piece of hardware of which you don't know the proper name. See "thingamajig".
The chrome hole plugs I bought 5 years ago aren't rusty yet; I think I remember I bought them maybe one size too big and had to ream the holes in the cowl slightly to get them in. They also had the correct ones(a size smaller) to fill the extra 5 lug holes in Weld Draglites.

A fellow student drew something like that in grade 9 drafting class. It even had dimensions. I'm pretty sure the guy had dyslexia.
I thought the teacher was going to have a stroke.

I work in construction management. I like to put this on the wall in my jobsite offices with a made up RFI (request for information) number.
You can imagine some of the looks I've seen as they try to process the image in their head..then the realization it's impossible.

For future Google searchers here is the link for the plug that fits. It's actually zinc coated not nickle as Home Depot says.

EVL VEGA, that widget is metric and won't fit on pre '76 Vegas.

It's actually made of Unobtainium so it will still work.

Also available, rubber body plugs.

Look also in the conduit isle, and there are various types of hole plugs, some with toggle bolt type gizmos to secure that widget.
