Watch Back End of Jungle Jim's Vega Fall Off

Postby EVL VEGA » Wed Nov 11, 2015 12:19 pm

Did you guys see this on Bangshift today?
At the 4:40 mark you can watch the Jungle Jim section (5:10 for launch fail).
At 8:29 you can watch a wheel standing Vega Wagon cop car.

Nasty rear end departure! It was at 5:10 for me. Wheel standers are still cool.

I meant the start of the Jungle Jim segment. Not the actual rear end ejection. I edited the first post to reflect that.

Cool video, but that was a jungle tribute car that the rearend came out of. Jungle died in 1977 so he was long gone by the time of this race. There is an old video out there that shows him doing something similar in like 72-73 time frame

Yes..i realize it's not actually Jungle Jim as he died 20+ years before that video was taken. It's not clear whether that was a survivor funny car or a tribute car.
I'd like to see the original video...that'd be awesome...i did a prelim youtube search and didn't see it.

This must be a tribute car.

Funny,
At the beginning of the video Shirley Muldowney climbs into the dragster like she has lived there her whole life. They fire the motor up and it's deafening and you will notice the entire pit crew has on ear protection except Shirley.

As far as Jungle Jim's Vega, my guess is someone forgot to tighten the rear chassis bolts.

In 2000 you could buy an entire weekend Pit Pass to a national event for $60-$80 bucks, including parking.
