after 35 years i got a mirage

Postby casemaker » Tue Apr 26, 2016 1:21 pm

i purchased the mirage roller that was on the Michigan craigslist. i am needing a pair of doors and the motor mounts and oilpan. thank you for any help.

The last time i sat in a mirage was 1979 - that one had been rolled and in a junkyard. Since then i have only seen 3 or 4.

Congratulations! and welcome I was actually thinking of trying to buying that car had life not thrown me a curve ball. How is the condition? I see your looking for doors, there is a fella that worked at Mudgets in Holland that had a stash of h-body stuff but I don't know if he is still there.

just so you know, if what I type seems kinda off, I had stroke a month ago that messed up my language center. I usually use impeccable spelling and grammar, now I sound like Ricky from trailer park boys.

I have always wanted a Mirage. Good luck on the build!

You should start a new string on the Project Journals section. Mine is 1976 Pontiac Sunbird TC.

Pretty Cool! Automatic or Four Speed? Red or Black Interior? I was looking for one for awhile. I ended up running a wanted ad in one of my club publications and came up with this one. After some cleaning and work I got it to run after it was sitting since 1985, runs pretty good. Looking forward to seeing some photos. I was lucky it was pretty solid and most of all COMPLETE. I had since came across two others that are since sold, one went to a member on the site, it was pretty complete but a little long in the tooth. The other came from up in Michigan also I bought from this site, no papers a lot of rot. That too is long gone. There is a registry but it seems like it as not been updated in some time. I forwarded him my info on all three cars and two years ago, and still has not been entered.
Look forward to hearing about your project. The photo with all of the dirt on the car was how I bought it, and taken where the car was stored in upstate NY. It now resides in Florida where I store some of my collection

I would've had this one if I'd ever been able to scrape $2000 together. At least it went to a good home! Looks great John.

And good luck on the new MIRAGE Caseman. There's another one near me now in Syracuse, but I dont have the funds for it.

Marco I can tell you this, I paid a lot more then $2000 for it!

It belonged to one Mr Meyer's daughters back in the day who now lives in Florida. I had gotten in contact with her trying to put some history together on the car. She wanted to see the car so when I had taken the car down to AACA Meet in Naples Florida for an unrestored certification, and she came with her sons to see the car which was pretty cool. I found out why the car was sitting for so long off the road, it was the oil pan. She said it was leaking so much oil they had to take it off the road. I love the original preserved unrestored stuff which this car is, and fits into the rest of the collection

Casemaker, I live in Covington IN, just 8 miles East of you. Got lots of Monza parts here if you're looking. (I'm heading to Danville IL here in just an hour or so actually). Send me a PM with your contact info/phone # and we can meet up sometime. Would love to see the car and help out where I can with parts! :th:

the mirage that was totaled in 79 that i remember was sold out of the mecca indiana salvage yard as a rebuilder. It was a 4 speed and had a black interior. Does anyone know of mirages around that had been rolled?

Mecca is about 30 miles South of me. Have never been to that yard yet. Is it big? When was the last time you were there?
