Did my monza come with a v8

I got the car from a junk yard and when i opened the hood it had a 305 just setting in there. Not hooked up..I need know if this is stock or if they passed a junk engine off on me...if you need any enfo about this car please ask me
Never mind i found out. It did not in fact come with the v8..
