power brake booster

Postby cjbiagi » Sun Jul 24, 2016 3:16 pm

Just curious if anyone has an old Monza power brake booster laying around? I do not car about its' condition, I might just need to use the brackets that are on it where it bolts to the firewall. Other H's should use the same booster as far as I know..... cjbiagi@yahoo.com

No, I am having a little issue with by booster. Sometimes the brake pedal is not returning all the way, it may stay down about a inch or so. After researching the issue the problem is most likely in the booster. I can feel some resistance and friction when I press the pedal down by hand, I believe it's maybe a tight seal or something in the booster. I actually had this booster rebuilt about 15 years ago when I had it chromed. So my options are to either send it out again or I can buy a new chrome booster but they do not have the correct H body brackets (surprise) available. So, if I go the route of a new one I will need to get H body specific brackets and send them off to chrome. Unfortunately the originals are riveted on to the booster so they will need to be carefully removed so I can bolt them on to the new replacement booster if I go this route. Still waiting to hear from the guy who rebuilt it to get his thoughts.....
I temporarily added a return spring to the pedal and it seems to work ok, however I don't know if I want that to be my long time fix. I could cut the ones off my original booster but I would rather not cut that one up.

I think I have one Clyde, I'll check and PM, or call you, this is perfect for this application if I still have it. I haven't hauled any scrap steel in for awhile so chances are good. Harry

Ok, great. Since you are in Canada if possible I only need the brackets. If you could carefully cut them off or grind down the rivets to remove them that would really help with shipping. If not, we'll work something out

Clyde,

Richard has a few brake boosters.
Here are some pics of the one still on a Skyhawk.
We are just north of Tampa, FL.
We could have it in the mail tomorrow.
