Congratulations. I left DuPont after a little over 40 years. I'm glad I'm gone, but it was more of an adjustment than I thought it would be, so if it happens to you it's pretty normal. I missed the camaraderie of the guys I worked with, (most of us went to the plant in the early to mid 70's when we were 18), but they're all retired now too. I still miss the "old times", but don't want to go back to full time job.

There are options to combat this, there are clubs to join and if you need a more structured plan [I suspect I will if I ever get to retire] I would like to suggest that you volunteer. There are lots of worthy causes, I would understand the apprehension in todays world but you already know your church and I think I would aim more at the first ones called in to just about any disaster "The Red Cross" or there is also "The Humane Society" [SPCA in the US] both of these will not be too taxing for you, will get to talk to nice people and do REAL HELP for things that really matter in this S :censored: d up world! Enjoy! Harry

That's true. My church found out that I did pipe and plumbing. So I'm still doing pipe and plumbing. But the "structure" of 40+ years of employment is a hard thing to get over. We're moving from our home of 21 years in a couple of days. That too, is harder to adjust to than I imagined. Emotionally, as well as, "where are we going to put all our stuff......?"
