I'd think the Sunbird and the Skyhawk would be exactly the same.

I have my 1980 Sunbird 3.8 V6 loaded into the AutoZone website and it lists two.

http://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating ... ckfit=true

I tried again and it shows two different ones for a 1977 Skyhawk. I had to back into it to find it.

Kevin He is looking for an "Evaporator" not an "Accumulator". I didn't find a new one from traditional sources, so I had to chase down an NOS one on eBay. Sorry to be the bearer of "ungreat" news, Old Massey Ferguson. Be patient you can win but the odds don't favour haste. Have you checked yours or is it missing, maybe a decent used one can be found faster and cheaper? Harry here is what came up a few minutes ago: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=Mo ... sacat=6000

wow, I tried ebay, and got nothing,
but did save this one!

thanks

no idea whats wrong with mine, but when I added some 134A, the leak detector went bonkers ,
when I checked under the dash.

actually have considerd an under dash unit, but was concerned about fitting,
lots of issues with console, dash, etc

also, air speed from the dash vents isn't all that great.

its just " I want my cake, and eat it too !" LOL

Ah.... good point, Harry!

BTW, my brother is an HVAC guy and happened to have a tank of R12. Charged mine the other day and blows below 39 degrees F on mine. The R12 is superior to the 134R but you just can't get it any more. I get good flow out of the center vents, an ok amount out of the passenger one, and virtually none out of the driver's side one.

Have you looked into using R152A? I am not an A/C expert, but what I read quite a bit about it and it appears to provide much better results of R134A a fraction of the price.

This is just on post of many, do research before jumping in:

I have both (R12 & R134A) here at home,
actually have 100 lbs of r12,(2x50lbs) left over from amtrak railroad conversion.
use it on my older a/c cars.

still thinking of underdash unit, IF....... I can find a good looking, small unit.

Well there are nice looking small units but there is limited space between either "console" and "dash" This may not be an issue if you happen to have [or are building] the console less stick version, then that should be about as good as it gets. Harry
