You have to inspect the tank before taking a decision. Sometimes you may get lucky and only have a small thin area, but most of the time if you got a hole, much of the tank is pretty thin and may not be feasible for repair as it will only get worse. I have repaired a couple tanks with good success, but what I thought was a single thin spot turned into several thin areas that required cutting out large sections of the tank and welding in patches. Finding a good tank is getting tough.

X2

your only other options are good used, or NOS, and I haven't seen a NOS tank in years. The new EPA regulations for salavage yards makes finding a good used tank difficult. They have to drain them before setting the car out. That results in a Hole being either drilled or punched into good used tanks. The last 2 good Vega tanks I found both had 1/4" holes drilled into them.

Fingers crossed for you.

At least that is somewhat repairable, not ideal, but with in reason as compared to rust. Harry

Thanks guys, been on vaca and didn't get back to the tank issue until today.
Dropped it today and couldn't see any thing resembling a hole!
Plastered the outside suspicious areas with JB and will paint with engine paint.
Also picked up a can of Red coat tank liner to do the inside....
\We'll see what happens!

Fix the holes and then coat with the kit from POR-15. They have a kit for gas tanks. I did that and it worked out great.
