75-77 Vega bumper mounts

Has anyone gone to the trouble of disassembling and painting the 3 piece bumper mounts off of a 75-77 Vega?

You are talking about all that heavy metal behind the aluminum bumpers right? If so, I have done a few sets. I used KBS Coatings Rust Seal (supposed to be better than POR-15, but that is arguable, but it is very strong and sturdy rust proofing paint).

Any particular advice you need?

What did you replace the rivets with?

Been thinking of powdercoating.. also wondering if I could lose 1 or 2 of the three leaves...

I never went as far to remove the rivets as I didn't see a need to. I am guessing the hole is 3/8. Not sure, I would guess if I did separate the individual plates I would use grade 8 bolts. or maybe weld.
