Hershey AACA fall meet

Postby classic_cruiser » Mon Oct 03, 2016 2:12 pm

Anyone going to Hershey PA this week for the annual AACA fall meet?
I'm planning on going on Thursday, took the day off from work.

I'm hoping for two things:
1. It doesn't get rained out. The weather here for Fall Carlisle was miserable last week.
2. I see some H-bodies in the car show, car corral, or at least somewhere on the grounds!

Hey Terry,
I have gone every year since 1974. I leave my home on Monday morning so I missed your post, and I come home Sunday morning. I have some vending spots in the Red Field North. The only H bodies I saw this year was a CV owned by the AACA Museum, and a real clean 80 Monza parked over by the Vintage Chevrolet Club space. Parts wise you never know what you will find. The weather was great!

Hi John... yep those are the two I saw as well! I took some pics I was going to upload here. I did like that 80 Monza 2+2 with the 2.5L and AC, it was definitely a driver (it had a GPS still plugged in it when I was by) but it still had the blue inserts on the door handles and looked to be in great condition.

I usually try to walk the entire parts field in one day... it usually takes me 7 hours straight to walk up and down every aisle. I couldn't do it this year, I got a really bad muscle cramp about 1/2 way through and had to stop. I missed a large part of the red field. I did manage to hit the car corral first and most of the chocolate north / south fields. The show on Saturday was OK, once it started drizzling everything was covered up for quite a while.

If anyone has never seen the Hershey show, it's quite an experience, one worth marking on your calendar! You really need a few days to do the swap meet.

Terry,
I know the owner of the 80, we went out to dinner on Thursday night. He is the second owner of the car. He is has a rather interesting collection of Chevrolets, and that car came his way he could not say no. He has had it for a few years now and took it out to the VCCA Meet in Lake Tahoe this past summer. Very true Hershey is a must see event, shame the drizzle put a damper on the show. I always make it a point to sit on the bleachers and watch the exist of cars. I left around 5:00 and they were still coming off the field, I just had enough. I had shown a few cars there over the years and it is a great experience, the best part was driving on and off the field.
Can't wait until next year

I was at Hershey again this year, on Thursday and Saturday...
Unfortunately, I didn't see a single h-body in the car corral or in the show. I was somewhat disappointed. I was hoping that since there was one last year, that perhaps there would be one or two this year.

There was, of all things, a pacer and an AMX in the car show. Even a '90 (or '91) convertible sunbird... hard to believe these things are "classics" now!
