Vega door and hatch seals

Postby gt350fme » Tue Mar 07, 2017 1:25 pm

I am installing new door and hatch gaskets and was wondering if they need a adhesive to keep things solidly in place, it's been a long time since I refinished my doors but my questionable memory seems to remember the old gaskets were glued in, l have searched our site for clarification on use of any adhesive but have not found it mentioned.
Clarification on any adhesive use would be most appreciated.

Here are a couple of the "Glue's" for the job: https://www.permatex.com/product-catego ... rior-trim/ Permatex also makes a black one IIRC. These are referred to as "Gorilla Snot" so take heed as it can be messy! The door ones are only glued across the top and upper rear window frame if they won't stay in the pinched area, they usually make use of clips along the bottom and front If My Memory Serves Us Well today, the hatch seal isn't glued on the Monza . As for the Vega I can't say for sure. Harry

The Vega rear hatch gasket is glued in otherwise it won't stay in place well, the door gaskets I ended up glueing them in also with permatex black weatherstrip adhesive, yup sticky stuff.
