Shifter knob interchange

Postby monzacoupe » Tue Jun 20, 2017 10:00 pm

G'day all, can anyone tell me if an automatic shifter knob is interchangable with the 4-speed knob?

No. Automatic knob usually has a push button on top to get it out of park, and is held on with a c-clip, but the manual trans one is threaded and screws on.

The '75 Monza automatic shift knob is a thread-on, but it is a different (smaller) thread.

You can put the Hurst aluminum"T" handle on but it has to be drilled and tapped to fit the larger stock shifter threads.Did it on my 80 Monza 4 speed factory shifter.

You can pick them up cheap used on EBay.
