Power Brakes for Vega

Postby Musicman » Sat Jul 08, 2017 8:23 pm

So I've just completed the S 10 conversion on my ride and I'm trying to figure out what master cylinder to use now. It was a 73 Vega with all Monza suspension and brakes but now has the S 10 brakes front and back. I want to go from manual brakes to power brakes so what do I use for this this? Power brake booster/master cylinder, proportioning valve. Do I need to change the brake pedal as well? What have others done that works? Thanks for any info.

I used a 2nd gen Camaro MC for power brakes. The little vega MC just wouldn't pump the calipers.

When going from manual to power the pivot for the pushrod needs to be moved to the lower hole in the pedal arm.

Did you use the booster as well?

if you have tall valve covers then you may not be able to fit a stock h body booster. I would use a stock booster if it fits and if not cut the bracket off the back and bolt it to an aftermarket dual diaphragm booster.

you might need an offset clevis and a reducing bushing for the hole in the pedal with an aftermarket booster
