video your car - need some pointers

Postby starvega » Fri Jan 26, 2018 5:56 pm

happy happy happy New Year’s to everybody in the club.
:th: you all are lots of real good folks ... good people ! Outta sight !

so here’s another question for you all...

i’d like some viewpoints and suggestions on the best way to videotape your car dragracing and or just videotaping it. The pros and cons, locations, securing, types of equipment, editing, copyrights, sharing, etc.

I purchased a Go- pro ( a little black cube) last summer but my videos all seem as a bunch of photos playing rather than a continuous movie. Any suggestions?

I’m looking to document the car as it’s Racing, etc. I saw a cool video on YouTube showing a four link system in action as it went down the track. Not only cool man but what a great diagnostic tool to have and share.

I have a suction mount cup which is great for mounting to windows or on the car. I use an older 1080 replay and from my experience its a HUGE asset to have something you can pair up to your phone and actually view what angle you are filming. So much of my time has been wasted guessing the right angle only to knock it 10 seconds after and have to guesstimate the angle again which is annoying.

This is the mount i am currently using https://www.ebay.com/itm/ReplayXD-Suction-Cup-Tilt-SnapTray-for-XD720-1080Mini-XD1080-RePower2200-Cameras-/201060275551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed020555f it might only work with my type of camera.

I have a few different videos where i've either zip tied the camera to an old hat, and a few with my replay mounted in various places.

I generally use iMovie because my laptop happens to be an older macbook, there are a lot of options out there. It can be pretty fun to edit! My 1980 Camaro video was my most put together video but it is a bit "off topic" on public roads.
