GM 10 bolt 7.5 limited slip. I'm driving the carrier pin out and I've driven it too far and now its hitting the inside of the housing , any idea on how I can get it pushed back in? It pushed in towards the front of the car and I can only rotate it about 20 degrees.

Thanks

You might try a pencil magnet like this one. This one has a 15 lbs pull.

you have to try and get something on the other side to push it back if not your going to have to pull the differential back out. If you have to pull the diff out make sure you keep track of how the washers on each side are stacked so that when you put it back together, your lash will still be set. Is it the stock posi unit if I recall there were four bolts, 2 on either side of the carrier pin ( not the 2 bolts per side that hold the posi unit to the housing), and if you loosen them the carrier pin will literally slide out---danfigg

What Danfigg says only applies if you have the pin pushed far enough in that the c-clips and axles can be removed. If not, You could be in for a fight. You may have to make some kind of pry tool to get around behind the pin and pull it back in far enough to rotate the carrier to a position where the pin can come far enough out to release the c-clips.

I was able to get it out by putting a stainless strap behind it and using a slide hammer. It was much easier with the axle out of the car...
