I'm in the middle of the s-10 rear disc brake swap but I cant seem to find the right rotor. Nobody seems to list S-10 2wd rear rotors. Can anybody provide a rotor part number?

Not looking like a bolt on. Looks like things need to be shimmed or longer axles used. Does anybody have a good write up?

When swapping S10 axles, with drum brakes some people grind the backing plate for drum clearance or
use a 1/8" shim between the drum and the axle flange, how far off is the disc ?

Thanks - I've been through that site and the information is not there. Looking for the 5 lug axle and brake rotor combination that works with S-10 rear disc brakes.

With the stock S-10 axle which they say is 1/16" shorter than a monza it looks like I can make it work if I shim the rotor out about 1/4". A little longer axle would be perfect.

Very good information. I think lighter weight of H-body cars will give allso extra miles to S10 rear axle.

Any ideas where to look one than ebay?

Wow..like you were reading my mind already !...was just thinkin the other day how I don't want the Drum "Look" with open mags....so was going to look up discs for a rear S-10...and there we have it, the X-treme pick up..only the part number that you're giving isn't a GM number...I'll search through my dealer and come up with one...and yes, I think we'll all have to "shim" to make up the differences, and be careful that we don't put un-even pressure to one side..we need to "centre" everything as close as possible....inboard rotor faces might take more wear than the outer....just a thought ...why not an entire housing retro...shit, going to more work again with torque arm etc. ..make it a simple switch to discs w/o all the other stuff :th:

There is a seller on eBay called S-10 Warehouse that has sold thousands of parts. At one time he sold spacers that were made to convert shoe brakes to Extreme rear disc brakes. I probably have a set somewhere, I'll look tonight to see if I can find them.

Thanks Dick. I remember S-10 warehouse. I bought lots of stuff from them but I don't think they are active any more.

The spacers go between the housing end and backing plate. They are only going to make the problem worse. I don't see any option other than custom axles. You might be able to use a ls1 Camaro or C5/C6 Corvette rear rotor and maintain use of the drum in hat parking brake. The diameter would have to be cut down and you would be moving the wheel mounting surface closer to the caliper which is likely going to cause the caliper to interfere with the wheel. If it even worked you would need a spacer between the rotor and wheel.

Are you using axles from a s10/blazer with rear disc or are they from a drum equipped truck? The drum axles are longer 26 7/8" vs 26 3/8"

I've got it figured out now. I'm using early 80s S-10 drum brake axles, 2001 Blazer read discs and 3/8" spacer between the axle hub and the rotor, and a 1/8" spacer on the calipers. This combo just squeaks inside 14" Oldsmobile aluminum wheels.
