Monza/Sunbird Question- Delco radio fittment

Postby 74_Vega_GT » Tue Aug 27, 2019 10:30 pm

~Of the V6 and V8 Monzas and Sunbirds produced in the latter years with Air Conditioning, 77-80, did they use a full size Delco AM/FM radio? Or was it a shortened version to avoid the ductwork? Thanks in advance.

I have pulled several radios out a/c equipped Monzas and they where full sized, smashed up against the a/c ducting and all

I agree with mrj52's experience, all full size radio's in every 77-79 car I ever had.

My 80 sunbird with AC (4 cyl though) also had a full size radio.

X4 here. My present Monza's radio was a full size [now in Sweden IIRC] (A/C Car) The replacement is as well. Harry

Looking closer at the pictures, I see what GM did with the cluster carrier that the radio mounts into. They modified the mold it seems to tilt the front of the full size Delco radio upward and it looks as though they've brought it forward somewhat as well.
