Dumb water pump question

Using the front sbc mounts, like Hooker or Transdapt, does it matter if I use an aluminum water pump vs cast iron? Seems like the aluminum would be a bad idea since the mounts bolt up against it, but then again, I don't know..

The front mounts were designed for stock water pumps from the 60's which were cast iron.
The other issue with aluminum pumps is a lot are aftermarket and vary in depth where the bolts go through, some people have to cut the tubes off and reposition them to fit the pump they have.
If you are running Hooker 2129 headers a motor plate will put less stress on the pump.
Any other headers I would run side mounts.
