Doing some work on the Vega

Postby Spode134 » Wed Mar 18, 2020 12:57 pm

Working on the gauges and the heater. There was no way I could get the defrost duct in with the dash in place. This is what I came up with.
Gauges were and are pretty rough but the lens polished up ok. Some semi gloss black on the bezel worked great
All the stuff is from Dave’s Vega village

To brighten up the lights on the dash, spray the backside of the panel with chrome spraypaint. It works awesome!

Getting lots done on the Vega. I tackled the hood hinges. Check out the before and after pics. It’s a bit of work but worth it grinding out the spot welds with a carbide burr works well.
Fuel gauge was dead and it turned out to be the tungsten wire in the rheostat of the sending unit was fried. Looks like someone fed it 12v. I was able to take it all apart and twist the broken section back together. It can’t be soldered. That works now

Some very tedious work there with some big results. Very cool.
