Monza/ Firebird hatch removal - any suggestions?

Postby sz3gfj » Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:27 am

The hatch on my donor car is in better shape than the one on my project car, so I want to swap. Looked at the service manual; removal appears to be a 3 or 4 man job assuming hatch hinge pins come out without destroying hinges. I'm thinking of making a support to hold the hatch in its open position so pins can be removed. Anyone have suggestions on how I can remove the hatches with a minimum of manpower? Thanks.

It does help to have a couple extra people to hold the hatch open as you pound the pins out. If you find you need new pins I have replacement ones that utilize a simple E clip for retention. Unfortunately I am away for 3 weeks but if you need them and can wait let me know. cjbiagi@yahoo.com
