I ordered 2 sets for the Black Spyder plus one extra Hood Decal. I can't wait to get them on this Spring (If he gets them made by then). I have been waiting at least 3 years for these.

There stripes arent exactly right for 1979 models.

there were more outline colors for the black stripes.

for instance a light blue 1978 spyder would have had a black side stripe with a white spyder script while a 79 had the same black side stripe but with a light blue spyder script.

Not the same light blue as the car. a few shades off so you could see it.

Not sure if the script color was being matched to the interior color or the exterior color on a 79.

My Red 78 spyder came with gold scripts while a red 79 would have had red scripts.

The one I've seen like this had black interior.

Has anyone seen a set of S&S decals? I have recently heard that they are not printed like the originals, & rather they are layered vinyl, so the hood decal would have three layers on it.

If that's the case just about any lettering sign shop can make them if the have a car to copy them from. If S&S is in fact layering these decal colors, there is nothing to making them when they have the files to do it. There would be no reason not to run them.

I had been thinking all along that they are silk screened, & I know that process takes some time to setup & run.

I had a set of S&S decals, had to sell them wrong color once I got the Red Spyder. I bought them about 2 1/2 years ago. They were not layered vinyl. They were screen printed like the OEM.

Do you recall if they were screened onto clear like the original?
Just currious if the detail stripes that are in the very front & sides of the hood decal on over clear like oem, or seperated.

I have a set of S&S on my black Spyder, and they are screened onto clear, just like the factory. Regardless of the lack of production of these now, I have to admit, he does make 1st class stuff. The installer who put my decals on was thoroughly impressed with the quality and they look as good today as when I got them (of course, the car is stored indoors and only sees fair weather).

Marco, are those still transparent in the center allowing body color to come through?

Is it just the color options that were different with the 79?

Yeah, the center is transparent letting the light blue car color shine through.

I believe there was green outline as well.

A few inquiries about the Spyder decal colour options that were available from year-to-year have been made so I made a seperate post in the General Discussion section called ... Spyder Decal Colours.

It looks like Stencils and Stripes isn't the only one offering Spyder decals. Phoenix Graphix is now offering them for less. I'm not sure if they are of the same quality or even if stock is available. Has anyone tried ordered from Phoenix?

Yes, I've got one of each set. I have preferences from both kits actually. S&S got the mustard yellow color wrong on the side doors and rear spoiler Spyder scripts. They did them in the lighter gold color instead. Phoenix Graphix, on the other hand, got the mustard yellow color correct for the rear spoiler (because someone sent them an NOS decal to color match), however didn't realize that that color also needs to be on the door Spyder script. (they also incorrectly used the gold color on the door). Obviously, I'm speaking of only the black/gold Spyder decals for a Red Spyder, but as far as I know they got the other color combos correct. (There 'was' some question as to whether PG got the gold Spyder details correct for a black Spyder but I'm unsure of what the concerns were.)
