New Engine for my baby, any tips/hints?

Postby DjTy » Wed Jun 28, 2006 11:26 pm

many of you may remember me as the caribbean guy with no mounts (still)

Some of you may think I party on beaches with hot nekkid women and cool drinks, .. well that's true :P

I'm called DjTy @ V8monza

*drum rolls*

well I am going to get a (almost) new "chevy crate engine" of 350ci, instead of ordering the Holley Avenger 670cfm, intake and pistons and the whole deal.

silver valve covers/oil pan and such, almost new and cheap (for here on curacao) only $1250

it comes with a flexplate, but cam is unknown(maybe going to replace with my CS-179R from federal mogul (speed pro)), and I would like to know some specs when I go see it in a bit.

would I still need my 2000 stall torque converter?
where do I have to take pics to be sure to (have u guys) identify it?

any hints on what I should watch out for? (scratches, dirty oil, sounds, etc)?

edit, oops, maybe this should have been posted in the engine section...
-Chevy Monza '76 2+2 V8 262ci (old) -> 355ci (oil problem) -> 355ci (piston broke) -> 350ci (current) ... LOL
-Opel Kadett E 1985 1.2Litre (Back up, had a broken condensor :P still need to find replacement accelerator pump membrane...)

That's ridiculous.

I wish I had a set you could have but I don't, sorry. You may want to look into some of the suggestions that other guys have had in regards to making your own set or something.

yes, and I got a good advice from someone at v8monza, let me find it:

here: http://norra37.com/photos/monza/renover ... mounts.htm

props to AWB503 (Thomas) from v8monza!!!!

now to find some cheap good 60s chevy truck mounts... (any advice on a set that's widely available?)

(Colin, it might be an idea for you to save that link's information for others with similar problems in the future... maybe even make a pinned thread in here)

Also tnx for your concern Reid... I appreciate it a lot!

Also any tips on the engine to check it out?

Not a problem. Really was hoping I could help make it happen for you.

Just let me know just as soon as you decide what you're going to do....I won't actually order them without checking with you first.

for now I''m in a bit of a hurry as I'm going to purchase a complete engine, and I'm looking for the 60's chevy truck mounts.

but I'll call upon ya if I am going for bob's mounts

I'm also interested in upgrading my brakes.... (balljoins?)
